It has been an honor to serve as your State Representative for District 43 and I am excited to continue to work together as we build a better New Mexico. This year, I was appointed to two very important committees to our community; House Appropriations Committee and the House Education Committee.
I have sponsored 12 bills this session, on issues important to our community including;
- Creating a Technology Research Collaborative - bringing our Los Alamos Laboratories and other major research institutes throughout the state to work together (HB 562)
- Limiting Public School Class Size – a Constitutional amendment & voter referendum to limit class sizes in public schools by 2020-2021. (HJR 7)
- Classroom and In-Plant Development Training - Appropriates $4.75 million to the Development Training Fund for a development training program providing classroom and in-plant training to furnish qualified human resources for certain new or expanding industries and businesses in the state. (HB 7)
- Municipal Court Fees for Law Enforcement – expanding the use of fees collected by the courts to be used by law enforcement (HB 107)
Other bills support our youth and science programs, DWI prevention, expanding Health Insurance coverage, protecting our vital water supply as well as renewable energy storage incentives to address needs at LANL. I realize these important issues may take more than one session to accomplish but I will be here fighting for our community not only during the legislative session but also on interim committees.
Heartfelt thanks to all the residents of House District 43 who have made my first session a truly encouraging experience. While the challenges we face are many, I commend the overwhelming sincerity and civility with which you have communicated your ideas and concerns to me. Please feel free to contact me any time, my email is firstname.lastname@example.org and my legislative phone in Santa Fe is 986-4436. Again, it is a privilege to serve as your State Representative and I look forward to working with you in the future.
